2013 4-H Summer Day Camps

2013 4-H Summer Day Camps begins June 10 and is entitled THE DYNAMICS OF FLIGHT follwed by IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BUDS on July10. The very next week it is PLANET EXPLORERS then July 22 IT’S ALIVE: JUNK DRAWER ROBOTICS. QUIRKY CULINARY CAPERS starts July 29 with the last Day Camp, CLOTHING ADVENTURES beginning August 5. Our one residential camp at 4-H CAMP CHERRY LAKE is June 17-21. 2013 Gadsden 4-H Daycamps Selection Form is available for you to download the enrollment form which gives more information. Call Yolanda Goode at 875-7255 for more information or email her at yygoode@ufl.edu . 2013 Gadsden 4-H Summer Camps Brochure will give you even more information about the camps. Every attendee will need to complete a Participation_Form (two pages).

4-H Camp Cherry Lake

It’s time to plan for your summer experience. Youth 8 – 13, whether 4-H members or not, are invited to a week of “Out of this World” fun at 4-H Camp Cherry Lake from June 17-21,2013. Some scholarships are available such as the Farm Bureau Scholarship for attending Camp Cherry Lake. Camp packets will be ready to distribute the week of April 29th so call 875-7255, email kdpeddie@ufl.edu or comment below with your name and address to have one sent to you or you can pick it up at the Extension Office at 2140 W. Jefferson Street in Quincy. Cost for camp is $190.00. Transportation will be provided.

WANTED: Volunteer Counselors for Summer Camps

If you like to camp, enjoy working with children and have some free time this summer, I may just have something for you. Camp Cherry Lake is a 4-H camp loaded with a variety of activities and day camps are held around the county during the summer months covering various topics. Volunteer counselors are always needed to assist the agents and campers. This year, we have three levels of counselors therefore three applications.

Read over the Volunteer 4-H CAMP COUNSELOR POSITION DESCRIPTION (Camp Counselor Role Description) to make sure this is for you.

Complete the APPLICATION FOR TEEN TO VOLUNTEER (appl for teen to volunteer form C 2 pages).

THE PARTICIPATION FORM (Participation_Form) with all signatures in place is very important.

Beginning counselors should complete COUNSELOR APPLICATION/NO EXPERIENCE (CIT_Counselor No Exp Application).

Those with 1-2 years experience need to use COUNSELOR APPLICATION/1-2 YEARS EXPERIENCE (Counselor 1_2 Years of Experence Application).

Experienced counselors with 3 or more years of experience should complete COUNSELOR APPLICATION FOR THOSE WITH 3 OR MORE YEARS EXPERIENCE (Counselor Application for 3 Plus Yrs of Experience).

The deadline for submitting your application forms to the office is May10, 2013. Everyone is expected to attend and participate in the counselor training. Dates/times TBA Only after the training is completed, will counselors be chosen to assist Miss Yolanda at Camp Cherry Lake and the various summer camps.

Gadsden County 4-H Project Achievement Program winners will compete at District III Events Saturday, May 4 at Astoria Park Elementary School in Tallahassee.

Representing Gadsden County 4-H will be: Ashley King, Josh Darby, Harrison Sadberry, Sha’daiji Brown and Karesha Hinson. Congratulations for making it to this next stage.
