Horticulture & Small Farm Programs Calendar of Events

On February 8^th, the Gadsden County Extension in cooperation with FAMU Center for Viticulture and Small Fruit Research are offering a morning workshop on “Muscadine Grape Culture and Pruning”.  Florida A&M University research and Extension faculty will conduct topic presentations on grapevine pruning benefits, pruning tools and pesticide safety, and proper grapevine pruning techniques.  There will also be pruning demonstration and how to revitalize old vineyards activities out-door, so please dress appropriately.

On February 9^th, the Gadsden County Extension in cooperation with Jackson County Extension will be offering a half day “Alternative Farm Enterprise Conference”.  Farm Credit of Northwest Florida and the cooperating county Extension offices are sponsoring the program.  Florida A&M University, University of Florida/IFAS, and farm industry speakers will discuss farm operations and small enterprise financing.  Break-out session in meat goat production, specialty vegetables, cut flower production, fresh water fish farming, hydroponics, citrus, specialty hot peppers, herbs, community farmers market, and marketing resources discussions will take place in 45 minute concurrent sessions.
